Yelagiri is a hill station located in the Eastern Ghats foothills at an elevation of 1410 metres above mean sea level, that is nestled between the cities of Vaniyambadi and Jolarpettai. It is a small but popular hill station with 14 hamlets spread out across a distance of 29 km. Punganoor lake is one of the most popular man-made lakes in Tamil Nadu and also the most visited tourist attraction in Yelagiri Hills covering around 60 square metres of land. There is a beautiful fountain in the middle of the lake. You can also have a superb boating experience there. Both pedal and motorboat trips are available at this boat club. The lake's waters are tranquil and serene.
There is a children's park, a tiny treetop viewpoint, a walking path around the lake, and a few stores in the lake’s surroundings. The "Mughal Garden" is a garden that is located close to the lake. There is no parking fee here. Each person must pay Rs.3 as the entry fee. In addition, there are boating fees that are Rs.75 for a rowing boat and Rs.50 for a pedal boat. It is open on every day from the morning 08:00 a.m. to the evening 07:00 p.m. Punganur Lake is a great place to relax and enjoy nature's beauty.
