Cuddalore has beaches, temples, mangrove forests and ancient monuments making it a very popular tourist destination. The place has a rich history marked by the reign of Pallavas,Medeival Chola rulers, Pandyas, Marathas and Tippu Sultan.

The buzz of an industrial city gel with the serenity of beaches, temples and mangroves at Cuddalore. The Silver Beach is a very famous tourist spot. Located just 2 km from Cuddalore, the place has a natural serenity which is hard to resist. Fort St.David is also located here. This is the second longest beach on the Coromandel coast. Many famous  temples are located here; Devanathaswamy Temple, Veeratteswarar Temple, Padaleeswarar Temple, and Bhuvaraha Swami Temple are a few popular temples in Cuddalore.

The sprawling beauty of mangroves at Pichavaram is something that can't be missed. Regarded as one of the largest mangrove forests in the world, it is located between the Vellar estuary and the Coleroon estuary. It also offers ample scope for water sports like rowing, kayaking and canoeing. The temples are known for their brilliant inscriptions and magnificent festivals. The walls inside the Vridhachalam temple have 72 dance postures as sculptures. Samiyarpettai is one of the largest coastal villages in the area. Over the years it has become a lovely tourist destination on the Indian East coast. Veeranam lake is another major tourist attraction in Cuddalore. It is believed to have been made in the 10th century during the reign of the Cholas. It is fed by Kollidam via Vadavaru river.
